Grub mit /dev/i2o/hda1 bei Kawumm in Debian – oder: FSC will ned!

Passiert mit Debian GNU/Linux 5 und einer Adaptec SATA RAID Karte. Grub sagt nur Fehler 1 und aus. Also, was tun ??

Do not stop your installation!! And try following steps to install boot loader during installation:

Enter another console with short cut: alt + Fn
Press enter to enable console
> chroot /target
> aptitude
update packages db
install grub
exit aptitude
> /usr/sbin/grub-install /dev/i2o/hda
> update-grub
> exit
continue to finish others steps with “continue without boot loader” option

If its failed after above steps, that might be some steps wrong while you processing it. Don’t worry! You will see Grub prompt after reboot, and try following steps:

grub> root (hd0,0)
grub> setup (hd0) <-- If you did not install grub correctly at last time, you have to do it grub> kernel /vmlinuz root=/dev/i2o/hda1 ro
grub> initrd /initrd.img
grub> boot

Then, you will boot into your system now.

Caution!! It’s not the end! You have to do following steps again to fix your problem exactly.

> grub-install /dev/i2o/hda
> update-grub <--- VERY IMPORTANT! Don't forget to do it! Or you will have to repeat all steps again! Aaaaber - nicht vergessen - das auch noch - wenn Fehlermeldungen kommen: 1. boot in single user mode 2. mount / with /dev/sda1 3. edit /etc/fstab & replace string /dev/i2o/hda with /dev/sda 4. reboot 5. enter into grub prompt with press 'c' during grub boot menu 6. enter following commands grub> root (hd0,0)
grub> setup (hd0)
grub> kernel /vmlinuz root=/dev/sda1 ro
grub> initrd /initrd.img
grub> boot
7. edit /boot/grub/ and replace /dev/i2o/hda with /dev/sda
8. grub-install /dev/sda1
9. update-grub

Und der Nachtrag:

Make sure /boot/grub/menu.lst was modified correctly with /dev/sda! Modify it manually if it has not been changed.

NUN muss es aber klappen!
